Good to have ya on the show Don, lets get right into it.
Wilbon: Your 6-3 mid-way thru the season right now. How would you assess your teams performance so far? Is it what you expected and are you happy with it?
LastDon: We have but only the highest expectations here in Jersey. We have had some great wins and some great losses...well see how the rest of the season goes
Wilbon: Your 3 losses, coming from two AFC North opponents and then a tough team in the NFC South coached by legendary coach Bucfan have been dissapointing. What happened in those 3 games that have been different from your wins? What factored into those wins that you couldn't not in those other 3 games?
LastDon: The AFC North is a tough division. We might have had 3 losses but some luck helped us out there. When we took on the Booty Hunters our guys were WAY to overconfident. It had nothing to do with the opponent, they just felt WAY to good about how they were playing and the Booty Hunters gave them a big slice of humble pie.
Wilbon: The other teams in your division are struggling right now. Manchild and the Miners are off to a dismal 0-5 start, OD and the Caravan are a game .500 right now and Natrones Yellow Jackets are 0-1. What are your thoughts on the division? Surely you are taking advantage of the slow starts by the other teams correct? Who do you feel poses the biggest threat to dethrone you from your first place finish at the end of the season?
LastDon: The season is young for most of the league. It's too early to tell as even 4 losses doesn't mean much right now. That being said, I have 1 division win and those are the ones that will matter moving forward
Wilbon: Obviously from your past teams you are a run first, pass second guy. You are known as one of the top rushing coaches in the league. Now I got to ask you this, Reggie Bush or Adrian Peterson? Everyone knows how similar they are but fill us in on what makes them different? Who would you rather have?
LastDon: One player does not make a team. Even if you give him the ball 100% of the time, he is only one player. They are both great players and to say one is better than the other isn't fair. What I can say is that AP needs to stay healthy for us to compete for the championship.
Wilbon: Lets talk about another owner right now that is known to get under your skin and vice versa. Coach Azalin, he is off to a great 5-0 start right now. It seems as if he has gotten his defense to perform at a very high level of play like his old glory days and his offense is playing efficient enough to win him games. What do you think of his teams start? Impressed? Surprised? Do you think he can keep this going? We know when AZ is playing hot it is likely to stay and not fade, could we see another Super Bowl appearance do you think?
LastDon: As always, AZ has a tough defense. Again, it is early and a 5-0 start is nothing to sneeze at. He still has many difficult challenges ahead of him so we'll see how he handles playing the more competitive teams. One regret is that the Underdogz will not face the Knights in the regular season.
Wilbon: Your QB play seems suspect at times. Do you have anything to comment on these guys? Could we see a switch in starters?
LastDon: No comment
Wilbon: The trade deadline for you guys came and went without any changes. Was this the route you were going or we're you looking to make some moves but could not come to terms with any teams?
LastDon: We were able to play many preseason/scrimmage games with our team and made preseason adjustments. We're not fond of making switches mid-season....most of our moves will be in the offseason.
Wilbon: What teams right now have surprised you with their fast starts? What teams surprised you with slow starts?
LastDon: Nothing is a surprise in NFL Fans.....all owners are good tough competitors....I am however very impressed with Russ, Vader and Bastards
Wilbon: I know it's early but can you give us a prediction on the AFC and NFC Champs Don?
LastDon: I don't' like prediciting....things change in a nanosecond in this league.
Wilbon: If you had to decide right now who would you give your mid-season team MVP to right now? Which player is your unsung hero? Who is the biggest dissapointment so far? How would you assess your draft and off-season trades now? Are you happy you sent some guys packing or do you wish you weren't so trade happy and kept one or two guys?
LastDon: We are not caught up in MVPs. We strive to play together as a TEAM and not worry about individual achievements. We do not say before the game we have to run it "x" times with AP or throw "x" number of streaks to Chambers. We take what the defense gives us and work from there. The addition of Champ and Adrian were the focus of our offseason transactions. I do however feel that our defense, particularly our secondary is the key to our success.
Wilbon: Eight games left. Who are you most looking foward to be playing? How do you see your season ending?
Last Don: We like a challenge and always feel you need to beat the best to be the best so I am looking forward to the battle of the Jerseys. We have only but the highest expectations and goals for our team. We feel we are good enough to win it all, we just have to play that way.
Wilbon: Thanks for your time Don. As always good luck and we look foward to seeing how the rest of your season plays out.
